
S., reflecting the same positive vibes and free-spirited energy that defined the earlier album. Much of the track list of Blue Slide Park seems to retain the general themes that are heard on K. The album in general is an ode of sorts to the place in which Mac grew up, with nearly all of the songs on the album either being named after or mentioning prominent places from his childhood growing up in Pittsburgh. The album’s namesake and inspiration for the cover is a community park in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, well known in the area for its trademark giant blue slide. Blue Slide Park was met with incredible success, selling over 100,000 copies and topping the Billboard 200 in its first week, the first independently distributed album to do so since 1995.


By the end of 2011, Mac had been inducted into the XXL “Freshmen Class,” released a second mixtape (with the song “Donald Trump” charting on the Billboard Hot 100), and completed his first studio album, Blue Slide Park.

S., Mac Miller’s career took off into an incredibly eventful and successful year.
